◊ 2010–11 Season – Real Madrid

Cristiano Ronaldo received the number 7 shirt for Real Madrid after the departure of Raúl during the summer of 2010. He scored four goals against Racing de Santander on 23 October 2010 and scored his second La Liga hat-trick of the season in a 5-1 victory against Athletic Bilbao on 20 November. Ronaldo also scored a hat-trick in the last match of the 2010 calendar year in an 8–0 demolition of Levante in the Copa del Rey. He again scored hat-trick and assisted Kaká in a 4–2 win over Villarreal on 9 January 2011. Cristiano was then forced to spend 10 days on the sidelines due to a muscle injury during his hat-trick in a 7–0 demolition of Málaga on 3 March 2011.

Cristiano Ronaldo scored the winning goal in the 103rd minute of the Copa del Rey final against Barcelona on 20 April this season. He then touched the La Liga record of most goals in a season with 38 which was previously held by Telmo Zarra and Hugo Sánchez after scoring two goals from free-kick in a 3–1 victory against Villarreal on 15 May. Ronaldo put his full effort to beat the record and scored two goals in the last league match of the season against Almería and became the first and the only player to score 40 goals in a La Liga in a single season. He won the European Golden Shoe award for his record breaking performance in 2010-11 season and became the first player to win the European Golden Shoe in two different leagues.
