Before you start running your brain by guessing, let us reveal who it is! We are talking about Sotero Aranguren. Born on 7th May, 1894, he was, along with his brother, the first Argentine to play for the club. He played 60 matches for the club and scored 4 goals and the counting would have gone on had it not been for an unfortunate event. This Argentine-Spanish midfielder’s career was cut short when he died at a prime age of 28 in the year 1922. But nevertheless, he left an impact which can be felt even today.

9. Felix Perez (1921 -1928)

Coming in at number 9 on our list of 10 greatest Real Madrid players from pre-1930s era is Spanish football legend Felix Perez. This right winger was born on 13th June, 1901. In his seven years of journey with the club, he played 85 matches and scored an impressive 27 goals. He is also noted for being one of the earliest players to give importance to fitness, at a time when that was not the top priority. He passed away in the year 1983.

8. Alberto Machimbarrena (1913- 1918)

Born on 31st March, 1888, Spanish midfielder Alberto Machimbarrena grabs the eighth spot on this list. Known for tactical game, he played for 5 years for the club and played 22 matches and scored 5 goals. One of the earliest leaders of the club, he captained the team to victory at the 1917 Copa del Rey. A year after his retirement, he died on 19th July, 1923 at the age of 35.

7. Pedro Parages (1902 -1909)

The seventh greatest Real Madrid players from pre-1930s era is Spanish legend Pedro Parages. The forward player was born on 17th December, 1883 and died on 15th February, 1950, at the age of 66. Throughout his 12 matches that he played for the team, he scored 3 goals. However, his contribution wasn’t limited only to the field. He served as the president of the club for a decade, from 1916 to 1926, and thus established himself as one of the key figures of Real Madrid.

6. Jaime Lazcano (1928 – 1934)

Next up at number 6 is Spanish forward player Jaime Lazcano. He was born on 30th December, 1909. A veteran in true sense, he started playing for the club at a tender age of 18. He played a whopping 147 matches for the club, and scored 79 goals for it. Jaime was one of the pioneers who revolutionised the potential of playing from outside forward position. He passed away on 1st June, 1983 at the age of 73.

5. Rene Petit (1914 -1917)

Although his tenure with Real Madrid lasted for only 3 years, but that doesn’t make Rene Petit any less memorable than any other on this list. Born on 8th October, 1899, this French forward player represented the club in 29 matches and scored 29 goals. When he joined the team in 1914, he did this along with his brother, Juan.  Rene passed away on 14th October, 1989, six days after his 90th birthday.

4. Felix Quesada (1922-1936)

During the twenties, he was idolised by football fans worldwide and quickly established himself as an influential member of his team. He passed away on 9th July, 1959, eighth days after his 57th birthday.

3. Eulogio Aranguren (1911- 1921)

It is none other than Argentine-Spanish midfielder Eulogio Aranguren. Born on 27th July, 1892, he was known for his sportsman spirit and like his brother, was the first Argentine to play for the club in 1911. He died in the year 1973. He was also a gifted hockey and rugby player.

2. Juan Monjardin (1919 -1929)

The second greatest Real Madrid players from pre-1930s era is Spanish player Juan Monjardin. Born on 24th April, 1903, he played from centre forward position. His contribution is still regarded as one of the greatest till date. He died at the age of 47 years on 13th November, 1950.

He went on to become president of the club for 35 years, between 1943 and 1978. No other player have made a bigger impact on football than him in that era probably. He even has the club’s current stadium named after him. That would be saying! He passed away on 2nd June, 1978, at the age of 78.
