Real clinches win in the eventful match of Real Madrid vs Shakhtar Donetsk
Real Madrid came face to face with Shakhtar Donetsk in a match held at Lviv Arena on Wednesday, 25th November, 2015. This was the first match of Real Madrid after their monumental loss against arch rival Barcelona, and a win against Shakhtar would ensure Real reaching the top of the section. And while Shakhtar would be playing to grasp on to the last their first chance, straw, and to keep the hope of qualifying alive, Real would be a little short of confidence.
The match began, and it was a decent start from the home side, as Fred looked to release Bermond immediately, but the Brazilian was in an offside position. But, 3 min into the game, and the table seemed to turn, as Modric from the slid a pass to Ronaldo, who, despite striking towards the corner, could not net the ball, as his effort flew over the crossbar. What followed was a couple of minutes during which the visitors were not exactly strong. And, even though Ronaldo looked quite dangerous near the opponent’s goal post, his team did not exactly benefit from it.
As the match continued, the home team maintained decent possession of the ball, and in the 13th min, Shakhtar led a challenge with Pepe, though the referee paid no heed to it. By the 15th min of the Real Madrid vs Shakhtar Donetsk match, both teams were exchanging possession of the ball. The tempo of the match seemed to drop, and Shakhtar was much more into the game at this stage. They even forced a free kick, but it fell through.
With a little over 25 min left till the first half, Kovacic wound up his feet outside the Shakhtar box, after a decent work from Modric, but his effort got blocked by Teixeira. And then, Real made a breakthrough, as Ronaldo helped bring a change to the scoreboard in the favour of his team, having received a pass from Bale. The score of the Real Madrid vs Shakhtar Donetsk match turned to 0-1.
A half chance came in the way of the home team in the 21st min, which did not do much for the team, and this was followed by another chance for them in the 27th min, which also fell through. Real got a half chance in the 30th min, but Bale’s effort went straight to the goalkeeper. In the 35th min, Stepanenko got booked for a challenge on Bale.
With about 5 min left till the first half’s end, the host team enjoyed possession for a brief period of time, and in the 44th min, they threatened with another chance that they could make no use of. After 2 additional minutes, the half time for the Real Madrid vs Shakhtar Donetsk match was declared. The scoreboard read Shakhtar Donetsk 0-1 Real Madrid.
The second half started, and the renewed vigour and aggression of the players, especially from Real Madrid, was evident from the booking of Carvajal for a late challenge on Gladsky in the 48th min. But, their aggression paid off, as, in the 50th min, the guests scored the second goal of the Real Madrid vs Shakhtar Donetsk match, as Modric, after receiving a super pass from Ronaldo, sent the ball into the net in the 50th min. There was no drop in their level of energy, even after the goal, as a chance came their way in the 52nd second, and within the blink of an eye, Carvajal has scored the 3rd goal for Real, thus putting a predictable end to the match, rather early on.
The Real Madrid vs Shakhtar Donetsk match continued, and within about 20 min from the 3rd goal, Real again came across a half chance, and then a goal, thanks to none other than Ronaldo. The fate of the match had been sealed. But Real’s aggression did not tone down, as Caseniro brought Taison to the ground inside the box, and the referee had no doubt. Shakhtar earned a penalty, and Teixeira shot the ball into the bottom corner, thus earning his team the first goal of the match.
The host team suddenly seemed to be on the roll, as Dentinho chested home at the far post, thus scoring yet another goal for Shakhtar. It was poor defending by Real. This was definitely not turning out to be the big win they were aiming for. While it was almost predictable that Real would win, the two goals were quite disappointing. As if that was not enough, Teixeira scored yet another goal in the 88th min for Shakhtar! It seemed that the host team had found their pace, though in the very last minutes of the match!
3 min were added, after the 90 min of the Real Madrid vs Shakhtar Donetsk match were over. The home team flooded forward with Taison, but Pepe managed to clear the danger. With less than 60 sec remaining, Real had possession of the ball, and the match finally came to an end. The scoreboard read Shakhtar Donetsk 3-4 Real Madrid. Shakhtar played a good game throughout, and got themselves a clean finish. And while Real Madrid did not exactly get a grand victory they were hoping for, they still remains unbeatable in UEFA Champions League group stage.
