Mohammad Ilyas Threatens to Commit Suicide

There is an alarming news for Pakistan Cricket at the moment. It is reported that the former chief selector of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Mohammad ilyas has recently threatened about the fact that he shall commit suicide if justice is not served to him. He feels that he has been unfairly removed from the post resigned by Najam Sethi recently.

While speaking to the media men in Pakistan, the 69-year old Mohammad ilyas, who is also the father-in-law of Imran Farhat, claimed that he was sheer disappointed by the rejection of his appeal against his removal and also stated that he will definitely fight for his right.

As a matter of fact, Mohammad ilyas was contracted by the former PCB Chief, Zaka Ashraf as the chief selector of the respective national senior and junior team of Pakistan in January this year. He was also a part of the selection panel that chose the 30-man preliminary squad for Pakistan for the World T20 which took place in March this year in Bangladesh.

But, quite unexpectedly, he was deposed from that post in April by the then reinstated chairman of PCB, Najam Sethi, who himself has also stepped down from the post recently. Ilyas said that he has not given up his hope and will again approach the court in order to seek justice on his part. But if results come out fruitless for him, he has threatened to take the extreme step.

He addressed the media by saying, “Suicide is strictly forbidden in all religions including Islam but I will not hesitate to take this nasty step, if justice is not met.”

Ilyas has made several contributions to the Pakistan Cricket for years. He has played 10 tests for Pakistan and also has a century registered by his name. He has also played 82 matches in the first class level. Ilyas himself claimed that he is in a possession of a letter from Sir Don Bradman in which he recognized Ilyas as the Best Young Player of those times. He has also claimed that Sir Bradman wrote a similar letter to Tendulkar years later.

He also pointed about the fact that during his tenure as a national selector, Pakistan had won many matches. Also, he added by saying that Pakistan reached the peak of their rankings in ICC in all formats of the game.

Now, the turmoil has risen and in the next few days we will be getting knowledgeable of the facts. One thing needs to be mentioned here. Ilyas has been involved in several such stern incidents in the past and he also called a Hunger Strike when he was denied entry to the Gaddafi Stadium few years back. Lets see what happens in this instance.
