This was Woods’ first year at the Masters and he appeared to be a very skinny player in his late teens. The games itself was highly anticipated and included Wood’s playing against Jack Nicklaus and Arnold Palmer in the practice round, the round ended with a low amateur honors for Woods’ and earned him his first masters.

1996-The Missed Cut

With three runners up and another three wins in the last season, Woods was all set to play in the masters. He faced unfavorable odds when double and triple bogeys plagued numbers 10 and 12 during the first round. Woods eventually managed to tie for fifth with a closing score of 69.

Woods completed the “Tiger Slam” in 2001 and became the only player to have held four major titles all at once. Woods finished 3 shots ahead of Phil Mickelson.

Finishing in three shots ahead of the US Open champion and scoring in a 70-69-66-71, Tiger Woods won the masters again to join the ranks of Nick Faldo and Jack Nicklaus for having won two consecutive masters.

Starting in with his worst score ever in a masters match, and having regained some ground in later rounds, Woods eventually ended up tying for 15th when he made two back to back bogeys. Woods followed the 2003 season with a performance that contrasted with his earlier years; a mild case of food poisoning left him disoriented on the range and he couldn’t focus at all, even vomiting in a trash can after the final round. He tied in for 22nd.

Woods won the 2005 masters season after having missed seven shots in the first round, thanks in part to a series of blunders by his competitors; DiMarco would have been the winner had he not lipped out a chip at the 72nd hole.

This was an emotional defeat for Woods since it was the last major championship that his dad lived to see. He tied in for 3rd in the finals, though starting the round only two shots behind the winner Phil Mickelson. Woods’ victory at the British Open later that year did nothing to ease his regrets.

The windy, cold weather favored Woods during the 2007 masters. He was able to finish just two shots behind Zach Johnson in second place. Woods blamed his defeat on his bogey finishes during the first and third rounds.

Fearing a lower rank was imminent; Tiger Woods was able to maintain an average score of 74.67. The final round proved to be decisive when Woods tied with Immelman for the highest final round score and ended up second overall.

Tiger Woods was pitched against Phil Mickelson for the first time since 2001, and both were leading the game until the final round when Woods bogeyed the last two holes and Mickelson likewise did the same. Both were removed from the game and tied at sixth.

Starting well, Woods was within two shots from Fred Couples’ lead and was a strong contender until the final round where he made three bogeys. Briefly curbing the damage, he got back in the game by eagling the seventh hole and birdying the next two, but his bogeys at 11 and 14 marked his downfall again.

2011-Tie for 4th

Tiger Woods finished the 2011 masters behind Charl Schwartzel who was leading the final round with four shots. Admitting he had had a good start pitching in an eagle and four birdies on the front nine, Woods screwed up when he put in a bogey on the back nine, finally tying in for fourth place.

Eight shots behind the lead half way in the game, Tiger Woods gave which can possibly be considered the worst performance of his career. He failed to break par in any of the rounds and his opening was dominated by bogeys left and right. It was the also the only time Woods kicked his club in frustration, finishing at 40th.

2013-T4 Finish

After being under scrutiny for an alleged illegal drop, Woods was almost disqualified from the 2013 Masters event. He was eventually awarded a two-stroke penalty and he finished T4.

2014-Injury and Subsequent Miss
