Pakistan v Australia - 1st Test Day One
Younis’ ton against Australia on Day1

Both teams have two debutants. Australia: Stephen O’Keefe and Mitchell Marsh. Pakistan: Imran Khan and Yasir Shah.

Australia dominated Pakistan through superb bowling with the likes of Mitchell Johnson, Peter Siddle in the first session. Johnson and Siddle got the two openers cheaply. Then it was Younis and Azhar show. Azhar played a hard-fought innings of 53 and put on a 108 runs stand for the 3rd wicket with the centurion Younis Khan (106). Younis Khan got out from a sharply swung delivery of Johnson immediately after the second new ball was taken.

In between Misbah-ul-Haq played a constructed innings (34 not out off 103 balls) and built a good partnership (83 runs) with Younis. Asad Shafiq and Misbah then ended the day calmly playing last ten overs watchfully but the last over of the day was full of drama with two strong lbw appeals not going in Australia’s favour.

Scores:

Pakistan 219 for 4 ( Younis Khan 106,Azhar Ali 53; Mitchell Johsnon 3 for 22) vs Australia.

Pakistan v Australia - 1st Test Day One
Johnson celebrating after taking wicket in the first over

Overall it was a good day for Pakistan scoring 219 runs and lost just 4 wickets. Mitchell Johnson was the pick of the bowlers from the Aussies as he took 3 wickets and bowled 13 maiden overs in his span of 20 overs in the day. Pakistan would be hoping to carry on the good work tomorrow whereas Australia would try to restrict Pakistan from reaching a decent total and rap up things as soon as possible.
