The star Proteas batsman, AB de Villiers came back to the side after hiatus of four months and he didn’t take any longer to settle on the crease and smashed 176 just on 104 balls against Bangladesh in ongoing ODI match. ABD’s fans were on cloud nine with witnessing such a superb innings from one of the greatest batsmen in modern day cricket.
The former South African Cricket team captain smashed 176 runs off just 104 balls that included fifteen 4’s and seven 6’s. The right-handed batsman anchored the innings very well as at one stage South Africa were 90-2, with his utmost brilliance they ended up setting 353 on the board.
The way ABD was batting, the cricket fans were going crazy all around with expecting a double-hundred from his side. The fine going innings, which had some strong chances to make it to 200 fell victim after de Villiers was caught up by Sabbir Rahman in 48th over.
It will be relevant to mention here that Mr. 360 was named for the ODI squads but couldn’t get a chance to show off in 1st ODI as opening pair of Hashim Amla and Quinton de Kock was enough to chase down 280 plus.
The second ODI between South Africa and Bangladesh brought him the proper chance and he capitalized it to the fullest with leaving the cricket fans on their edge of the seats in excitement. The ABD fans were quick to react and as expected it was praise all around, even many of the star cricketers took to Twitter to congratulate South African star for such a superb innings.
The ton in today’s match became de Villiers 25th ton in ODI cricket and that would surely have boosted his confidence as he wasn’t able to score big for quite some time. AB de Villiers, who was captain of the Proteas in Champions Trophy failed to grab the opportunity as an individual and as a leader as well.
Later, he also failed to do any good in England tour. AB’s today’s knock for sure would have superbly worked in for him as a fresh breeze as he was finally able to deliver something which he has been known for years.
