Some great players never fade out even after their retirements from the international football, thanks to some very high-paying leagues such as the Chinese football league and the Major League soccer. English international Ashley Cole is one such player who even after his retirement from the England team in 2014 still manages to entertain his fans through league football. After being omitted from the national squad for the 2014 FIFA World Cup, Cole announced his retirement on 11th May 2014 but continued to play for club. He then moved to MLS club LA Galaxy from AS Roma on 27th January 2016. Shortly after, he made his debut for the American club on 24th January that year against Santos Laguna.

The 37-year-old left back joined the MLS side from Roma in 2016 and made 58 MLS appearances since then. After being out of contract for few time, the former England international is back again for a third season in MLS. The Sigi Schmid’s side offered him a one-year deal this Wednesday which he readily accepted. In a press release LA Galaxy coach Sigi Schmid said “We are very excited that Ashley will be returning for us in 2018. He has been a tremendous leader for our club,” and added “He has shown he can be successful in this league and we are confident that will continue in the season ahead.” And the MLS fans are now quite overwhelmed by this decision of Sigi Schmid.

LA Galaxy had a bad season last year where they finished at the last place in the MLS western conference table with 8 wins, 8 draws and a massive 18 losses. And Ashley Cole started 29 matches for the team last season while scoring just one goal and provided two assists. But the fans are now hopeful to see him back in form again as he joins Venezuelan right back Rolf Feltscher and Norwegian center back Jorgen Skjelvik to form an impenetrable defense line for the MLS club LA Galaxy. This season hopefully the U.S. goalkeeper David Bingham will secure the crossbar for the team.
