Pérez started his youth career in Deportivo Maipú, staying associated with them from 1996 to and and began playing professionally with Godoy Cruz. His name went down the history of the club as he scored a goal in the fifth minute in a 1–1 tie with Belgrano in September 2006. It was the club’s first goal ever in Argentina’s first division.
