Rohit Sharma’s marvelous innings against Sri Lanka on 13th December 2017 is the latest inclusion in the list. He scored 208 runs with 12 sixes. He is the only player in the list to appear twice, one with 16 sixes and another with 12.

At the top of the list of batsmen with the highest number of sixes in a single innings is Rohit Sharma, the current Indian player, who scored a massive 16 sixes in a match against Australia on 2nd November 2013 in Bengaluru. He also made 12 boundaries in the same innings, and accumulated a total of 209 runs with a strike rate of 132.27, having faced 158 balls.

The next player to score the same number of sixes in a single innings is AB de Villiers, the current South African player, who also scored 16 sixes, in a match against West Indies on 18 January 2015, played at Johannesburg. He also made 9 boundaries in the same innings, and accumulated a total of 149 runs with a strike rate of 338.63, having faced 44 balls.

3. Chris Gayle vs. Zimbabwe – February 2015

Another player to score the same number of sixes in an ODI innings is Chris Gayle, the current West Indian player, who also scored the enormous 16 sixes in an innings, in a game against Zimbabwe on 24th February 2015 in Canberra. He also made 10 boundaries in the same innings, and accumulated a total of 215 runs with a strike rate of 146.25, having faced 147 balls.

Next on the list of most sixes in an innings of ODI by a player is Shane Watson, the former Australian player, who scored an incredible 15 sixes in an innings, in a game against Bangladesh on 11th April 2011 in Dhaka. He also made 15 boundaries in the same innings, and accumulated a total of 185 runs with a strike rate of 192.70, having faced 96 balls.

6. Xavier Marshall vs. Canada –August 2008

Next on the list of most sixes in an innings of ODI by a player is Xavier Marshall, the former West Indian player, who scored an impressive 12 sixes in a match against Canada on 22nd August 2008 in King City. He also made 11 boundaries in the same innings, and accumulated a total of 157 runs with a strike rate of 133.05, having faced 118 balls.

He also made 13 boundaries in the same innings, and accumulated a total of 208 runs with a strike rate of 135.94, having faced 153 balls.

He has 252 sixes in ODI Career now which is 3rd All Time Most Sixes in ODIs. Chris Gayle’s 215 Runs was the 4th Biggest Individual Score in ODI history.

Most sixes in a match (by Both Teams)

In the match of India vs. Australia, record book get disturbed by both teams. India made 385 runs playing first. Rohit Sharma scored 209 runs, only 3rd batsmen in history to do so. He hits 16 massive sixes in his double ton, breaking world record made by Shane Watson (15 sixes) against Bangladesh. Rohit broke the Indian record previously held by skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who hit 10 sixes in his innings of 183 against Sri Lanka at Jaipur.

The match has produced a world record for most sixes (38) – 19 by India and 19 by Australia, eclipsing the 31 recorded in India-New Zealand ODI at Christchurch on March 8, 2009. The match has produced 709 runs for the loss of 16 wickets – the second highest in a match involving India and Australia, next only to the 721 for six at Jaipur on October 16, 2013. For the first time, three matches have produced 700-plus in a series in ODIs.
