He hit a record 31 sixes in the 5 world cups he played in i.e. from 1996, 1999, 2003, 2007 and 2011. In 2003 and 2007 he was the captain of the Australian team which lifted the ultimate glory twice under his captainship.

He also holds the record of second most run scoring player in all the world cups he played. He scored a total of 1743 runs in 46 matches he played at an average of 45.86 at an attacking strike rate of about 80 runs per 100 balls. His high strike rate displays his attacking nature as a player and also as a captain. This attacking attitude helped Australia win the World Cup twice. Cricket Australia owes a lot to him for his great services for the game.

2. Herschelle Gibbs

The second player on the list of hitting the most number of sixes in the world cups played is Herschelle Gibbs from South Africa who scored a total of 28 sixes in all the world cups he played. He also held the record of 9th most successful batsmen in world cup history. And he played a total of 25 matches and scored 1067 runs at an impressive average of 56 and an attacking strike rate of almost 87 runs per 100 balls. He was the opener for South Africa in all the world cups he played and brought South Africa closer to victory a number of times but was unfortunate. He hit a total of 106 fours and 28 sixes in his entire world cup career. Cricket South Africa owes a lot to him and he truly was an asset to the South African National Cricket Team.
