Multan Sultans PSL Team, Kit, Squad, Captain & Owner

It’s only been two years since Pakistan Super League (PSL) has kicked off his journey and the best thing is in such a short time span, this league has gone on making a big name among prestigious T20 leagues like IPL and BPL. As the viewership exponentially grew PSL management fulfilling their promises decided to get in another PSL team for the 3rd edition named Multan Sultans.

It will be pertinent to mention here that five regions were shortlisted on the basis of provincial representation and domestic cricket ranking on merit.

As PSL went on becoming a global hit, dozens of bidders showed their interest to grab the opportunity to own a PSL Team. The Schon Group won the bidding and bought rights of team Multan on an eight-year contract.

All the existing sides welcomed Multan Sultans as the sixth PSL team, which would be kicking off their campaign right away from the PSL 2018. Sultans have been in the news for all the goods as being the most expensive team of PSL it is all set to grab more of the international player.

It will be pertinent to mention here that PSL management was eyeing to increase the number of teams for the PSL 2nd edition but the team owners had various reservations, which made a bit hurdle in the arrival of PSL’s sixth team.

So far know the coach and director cricket of Multan Sultans have been revealed. The left-arm great ‘Swing ka Sultan’, Wasim Akram takes head as the director cricket of Multan Sultans and Tom Moody as the head coach of the side.

It was hard for cricket fans to wait anymore for all the details about Multan Sultans since its arrival but as good things take time, it took around sixth months for Multan Sultans to unveil their kit and logo.

The much-awaited kit and logo of the Sultans were revealed at a star-studded event in Karachi. The logo and kit worth that wait and cricket fans were delighted with all this.

Multan is known for its Sufi tradition and rich Islamic history, the kit, and logo had a representation of the king/ warrior from the Islamic history.  FYI, Sultan is the key Muslim leader, knight or a king. The official logo and kit show sultan on his horse with a cricket bat in his hand instead of the sword.

Before knowing about the Multan Sultans, a cricket fan should also be aware of the team owner as PSL team owners are very much popular all around and their keen interest along with support makes PSL a next-level success.

Amid 40 representatives of bidders, Dubai-based Schon group was able to win the bidding held at the start of June 2017.

The Dubai-based group preferably known for real estate, fitness, and technology start-ups has its roots in Pakistan. Nasir Schon cofounded this business group along with his brother Tahir H Schon. Up the latest, sons of Tahir Schon, Khizer Schon and Asher Schon bought Multan Sultans for the PSL 3rd edition.

Multan Sultans Price

Multan Sultans overshadowed Karachi Kings when it was about the most expensive team of PSL. The Kings were purchased for $2.6 million per year for 10-years. Sultan left the Kings miles behind in this regard with getting the reserve price of $5.2 million per year for the 8-year contract.

Speculations and rumors are on rising about the captain of new PSL team for since long. All these disinformation will be put to rest as the PSL 2018 draft will be taking place in the ongoing month of October. But before this one needs to know that Sultan’s owner Schon is more concerned about promoting new talent and also opposed the idea of having retired or late-30’s captain as other PSL teams had. With all this, it seems some new talent will be placed on the driving seat by the young PSL-franchise.

It should be kept noted that before the draft Sultans would have to pick 9-10 players as other PSL teams will only be allowed to retain 10-players and others will be released by them consequently.

Rumors: Mohammad Hafeez & Imran Nazeer to Join Multan Sultans.

If rumors are meant to be taken seriously then Mohammad Hafeez is most likely to join Multan Sultans. The other big boom for Sultans, speculations hint on coming is Imran Nazeer’s cricket comeback with playing Sultans for the PSL 2018.
