For this big event, Qatar will build 9 new stadiums and will renovate 3, with 12 venues divided among 7 host cities.  Al-Daayen, Al-Khor, Al-Rayyan, Al-Shamal, Al-Wakrah, Doha and Umm Salal are the 7 host cities where this FIFA World Cup will be held. The two stadiums that would have been built, irrespective of Qatar being awarded with the World Cup, are the Al-Wakrah and Al-Khor stadiums. The five stadium projects launched have been designed by the German architect Albert Speer & Partners. Also, in the stadiums for, both, the players and the spectators, both, the air conditioning system will be solar powered and carbon neutral. The country’s bid organizers say the stadiums to be zero-carbon emitting and climate controlled. Hence, it is said that the preparations at the stadiums will be made such that solar radiations and warm winds be reduced, and the provision of soft air conditioning is also envisaged.

  • Doha Port Stadium – City: Doha, Capacity: 44,950.

  • Al Gharafa Stadium – City: Al Rayyan, Capacity: 21,282.
