At number 10 in Top 10 Best Mountaineers is Alberto Inurrategi from Spain. He is the youngest to scale all the eight thousanders by the age of 33 and since he climbs in alpine style with few lines and no bottled oxygen, he is also the fourth to climb all the 14 eight thousanders without bottled oxygen.
At number 9 in Top 10 Best Mountaineers is Radek Jaros from Czech Republic. He is the only Czech to have conquered all 14 eight thousanders and thus has completed the “Crown of Himalaya” and is the thirty-third to do so. Also he ascended all these mountains without the use of bottled oxygen thus making him the 15th person in history to do so.
At number 8 is Andrew Lock from Australia. Andrew was the first Australian to climb all 14 of the eight thousanders and has even climbed some of them twice. He has conquered eight thousanders 18 times till now. He was awarded Australian Geographic Society’s Adventurer of the Year award for 2009 and the Medal of Order of Australia for service to mountaineering in 2011.
At number 7 in Top 10 Best Mountaineers is Juanito Oiarzabal from Spain. The sixth man to reach all the 14 eight thousanders and third to do so without supplementary oxygen, He is the first person to climb the top 3 summits twice (Everest + K2 + Kanchenjunga) and also second on the list of all time eight thousanders climbs with 25 climb.
At number 6 in Top 10 Best Mountaineers is Silvio Mondinelli from Italy. Silvio is the 13th person to climb all the 14 eight thousanders and the sixth to do it without supplementary oxygen. His achievements have earned him the gold cross of Order of Merit of the Guardia di Finanza and 5th class of Order of Merit of the Italian Republic.

At number 5 is Carlos Carsolio from Mexico. Carlos is the fourth man and the first non-european and also the second youngest to climb the world’s 14 eight thousanders and all of them without bottled oxygen though he required emergency oxygen during his descent from Makalu in 1988. Carlos is renowned for his strength and has been nickname “The Mexican Bull of the Himalayas”.
At number 4 in Top 10 Best Mountaineers is Lino Lacedelli from Italy. Lino was the first man to reach the summit of K2 along with Achille Compagnoni and is also notorious for leaving behind his teammates in a life threatening situation in order to ensure that he reached the summit first. He has been awarded Italy’s highest honor Knight of the Grand Cross in 2005. Apart from that he has also authored a couple of books called “The Mountains of my life” and “K2: The Price of Conquest”.
At number 3 is Reinhold Messner from Italy. Messner is often regarded as greatest mountaineer of all time and was the first climber to conquer all 14 peaks of eight thousanders. He has written over 63 books on the subject of mountaineering and his books have been translated into many languages.

One of the most accomplished mountaineers of all time, Tenzing was one of the first two individuals apart from Edmund Hillary to reach the peak of the Mt Everest on 29th May 1953. His feat has been of the greatest achieved by mankind for it showed the grit and determination of man. He was named in the Top Most 100 Influential People in the world of the 20th century by Time. His efforts earned him accolades all around the world including the George Medal from Queen Elizabeth II, Padma Bhushan by the government of India and the Order of Star by Nepal.
