In the year 2007, when Marchesin was still associated with Huracán de Tres Arroyos in his home town, Buenos Aeres, Club Atlético Lanús signed him, though he remained a non-participating player on the squad of Lanús which went on to win the Apertura tournament in the same year. Is career officially began after two years. Marchesín debuted in competitive football in March 2009, in a match against Gimnasia y Esgrima de Jujuy, another Argentine team. The match ended in a victory of his team, Lanus, with a score of 2-0.

Eventually, Marchesín played in his debutant match in a club competition on an international scale in the month of April of the same year, in a match against Caracas FC, in which his team ended with a draw, as the scoreboard read 1–1. In the season of 2009, he became the first choice as a goalkeeper after relegating the existing keeper Mauricio Caranta. He thus made it to the majority of the matches in which his team played in the Apertura tournament. He continued to give a good performance, for the coming years, and in 2013, he earned the Copa Sudamericana with his club, Lanús. He started in both the matches of the finals in which his team faced Ponte Preta, a Brazilian club. During his tenure, his team won the Copa Sudamericana in 2013.

In December 2014, Santos Laguna, a side based in Mexico, purchased Marchesín, to replace Oswaldo Sánchez who was retring from the position of the goalkeeper of that team. In the very first year of his association with the new club, he helped his team to win the Clausura 2015, besides lifting the Campeón de Campeones cup in 2015.

Before becoming part of the first team of Argentina, Marchesín became the starting keeper for the U21 national team of Argentina which ended in the third place in the Toulon Tournament 2009. He was first called up to join the senior team in August 2010, and was invited to play in a friendly game against Spain. He earned his first international cap for his national team in a friendly game in which Argentina faced Venezuela, in March 2011. He was brought into the game as a substitute in the half time of the match that ended in a victory for Argentina with a score of 4–1. After this, there was a huge gap in his international career. After a gap of almost four years, he was called up again for the first time in September 2014, he was invited by Gerardo Martino to become part of the squad of Argentina in friendly games in which the team would face Brazil and Hong Kong. He played in the latter match, against Hong Kong, which helped him earn his second cap with the team.

In the next year, he assumed his responsibility as a keeper of the national team, as a result of for Argentina’s national team after Mariano Andújar’s injury in Copa América. After his displays in 2014, he was again called up to be part of the squad of Argentina in the Copa América 2015. This was right after the injury sustained by Mariano Andújar in the middle of the tournament. Argentina ended the tournament as the runner up. In September 2017, Jorge Sampaoli gave him the first call-up to join the qualification games of World Cup 2018, playing against Peru and Ecuador in October. In November of the same year, he made his debutant start for his national team in a match against Nigeria, which resulted in Argentina’s loss with a score of 4–2.
