Espanyol competed with German club Dortmund in a pre-season international friendly before the starting of season 2017-18. Both the team started pretty well but both missed several chances of goal in the first half. Espanyol tried to create pressure on Dortmund in the second half with some great attacks. Their first and the only goal came from a brilliant left-footed shot by Pablo Piatti from an assist of Pau López.

Espanyol 1-1 Sevilla [20.08.2017 – La Liga]

Espanyol started their La Liga season 2017-18 journey against Sevilla, and they looked pretty confident after the win against Dortmund. Sevilla got their score from a marvelous right footed shot by Clément Lenglet to the bottom left corner of the goal in the 26th minute of the game. Leo Baptistao then scored the equalizer for Espanyol shortly after in the 35th minute. The second half remained goalless and the match ended as a draw.

Both the team started quite aggressively in the second La Liga match where both team made some serious fouls in the first 15 minute of the game. Several attempts were blocked in the Leganes side where they also created some good chances with sneak attacks. Leganes got their first and the only goal from a left footed shot by Martín Mantovani following a set piece situation. The second half remained goalless thus ending the match in favor of Leganes.

The fifth goal came from Luis Suárez in the 90th minute of the match and Barca won the match with a gigantic score of 5-0.

Pione Sisto then scored a goal for Celta Vigo in the 69th minute and the match ended with 2-1 result in favor of Espanyol.
