Club Deportivo Leganés, famously known as just Leganes, plays their home games at Estadio Municipal de Butarque. The club earned promotion to La Liga for the first time in the 2015–16 season since the inauguration of the club in 1928. Leganes plays the South Madrid Derby against their arch-rival Getafe which is definitely a delight to watch. The club has witnessed steady promotion from the lower divisions and spent 19 season in Tercera División, 16 seasons in Segunda División B, 13 seasons in Segunda División and finally 2 seasons in La Liga since 2016.
Under their long-serving Spanish coach Asier Garitano, Leganés earned the promotion in La Liga and finished at the 17th place in the 2016-17 season.
