Sami Khedira currently plays as a central midfielder for the Italian Serie A side Juventus besides regularly appearing for the German national football team. He started his footballing journey by joining the youth academy system of his native club TV Oeffingen in 1992, at the age of just 5. After spending three seasons, he moved to the Academy of VfB Stuttgart in 1995, at the age of only 8. He went through a rigorous training program and promoted through several age-level squads in the Stuttgart academy between 1995 and 2004. Khedira finally made his senior debut with the reserve side of VfB Stuttgart in 2004, at the age of 17. He played 21 second-division matches for the VfB Stuttgart II while scoring once. Shortly after, Juventus confirmed that Khedira sustained a muscle tear in his right thigh. For that incident, he had to remain sidelined for the next two months.
