At the age of just 7, Busquets started his footballing journey with the youth academy system of his native club CD Badia del Vallès in 1995. After spending a season, he moved to CEF Barberà Andalucía in 1996 and stayed there for three years. He then joined the academy of UE Lleida in 1999 and took 4 years of training there. He moved to the Jàbac Terrassa side in 2003 and spent another two-year at the academy.
